About Tradition

A family shop, three decades in, now in the second generation.

Jim Ogg started Tradition Custom Cabinets to do cabinetry the right way. Randy and Scott — his sons — run it now, same shop, same way.

Our Story

It started with one man's bench.

Our father, Jim Ogg, opened Tradition Custom Cabinets more than thirty years ago — in a small shop off the highway in Marble Falls, with one bench, one CNC he'd saved up two years to buy, and a stubborn opinion about how cabinetry should be built. Hand-fitted joinery. Real wood. No shortcuts. And the customer hears the truth, every time.

Dad's first customer was a family friend remodeling their kitchen on Lake LBJ. He delivered the cabinets in his pickup, installed them himself over a weekend, and spent Monday morning fixing one drawer that had bowed in the humidity. He stayed in business because he showed up the next time something needed to be fixed — and the time after that.

Three decades later, the shop is bigger. The standards are the same.

We grew up in that shop. As kids, we swept sawdust. As teenagers, we ran the sanders. By the time we were old enough to argue with Dad about how to set a sliding miter, we were already cabinet makers, even if we didn't know it yet. Dad retired in 2025 after thirty-plus years on the floor. We took over the day-to-day, the customer calls, the install crews. The shop is still in the same building. Most of the team has been with us a decade or more. The standards Dad wrote down in his head are still the standards.

What's changed: we've added technology where it actually helps. Cabinet Vision drives the CNC pipeline more precisely than anything Dad had access to. And — newer than that — we've added a customer portal so you can see your project as it moves through the shop, sign change orders from your phone, and never wonder where your cabinets are. Dad would have loved that part. He hated the phone.

What hasn't changed: every job that leaves the shop is touched by one of us. We answer our own phones. We do our own quotes. We show up at our own installs. Just like Dad did.

What sets us apart

Why people keep choosing Tradition.

01 · Generations

Family-owned, second generation.

Same shop, same standards, since the 1990s. You're working with the people whose names are on the building — not a regional manager and a sales rep.

02 · Ownership

Every project handled by an owner.

Randy or Scott runs your job personally from first conversation through install. No designer hand-off. No project coordinator triangle. One contact, end to end.

03 · Precision

Cabinet Vision + CNC, joined to old-school joinery.

Modern precision where it matters; hand-fitted finish work where the machine can't quite get it. We use both because both make better cabinetry.

04 · Visibility

A real customer portal.

See your project in production. Get quotes and change orders by link, not by paper. Approve from your phone. Most cabinet shops don't offer this — we built it because our customers asked.

Working on a project?

We'd be glad to talk it through. Most calls take 15 minutes and end with a clear next step.
